Advancing to pointe work is a pivotal stage in a ballet dancer’s development, requiring exceptional strength, control, and technique. At Flex and Flow Physio, we provide a Pre-Pointe Assessment designed to ensure each dancer meets the physical requirements for safe and sustainable pointe work. This assessment has been meticulously developed by our lead physiotherapist, Suzie, who combines her extensive physiotherapy expertise with over 20 years of experience in the dance industry to deliver a highly professional and clinically informed evaluation.
Our detailed Pre-Pointe Assessment goes beyond a basic readiness check, providing a clinical evaluation of:
✔ Foot and Ankle Strength & Mobility – Assessing stability, joint range, and neuromuscular control critical for en pointe work.
✔ Lower Limb Strength & Alignment – Evaluating turnout control as well as hip, knee and ankle static and dynamic stability to support optimal biomechanics.
✔ Core Strength & Postural Control – Analysing trunk endurance and dynamic stability to maintain balance and precision.
✔ Functional Movement & Ballet Technique – Assessing key dance movements, such as pliés and relevés, to thoroughly evaluate strength, control, and technique, identifying any areas requiring development.
Upon completion, each dancer receives a comprehensive clinical report detailing their strengths and areas for improvement. If required, a personalised conditioning programme will be prescribed to enhance strength, control, and technique, ensuring optimal readiness for pointe work. Additionally, we offer direct communication with dance teachers to facilitate a collaborative and informed approach to pointe progression, supporting each dancer’s development with expert guidance.
At Flex and Flow Physio, we set the highest standards in dance physiotherapy, ensuring every dancer receives expert, evidence-based care. Our Pre-Pointe Assessment is designed to support longevity in dance, reduce injury risk, and enhance performance at an elite level.

At Flex and Flow Physio, our comprehensive Running Gait Analysis is designed to assess and optimise your running mechanics, helping you improve performance and reduce the risk of injury. Whether you’re a competitive athlete, recreational runner, or just starting your running journey, understanding your running form is key to preventing common injuries and enhancing efficiency.
Our experienced physiotherapist, Suzie, will conduct a thorough analysis of your running technique. Using detailed observational assessment, we will evaluate key components of your gait, including:
Foot Strike and Alignment – Identifying any abnormalities in your foot mechanics that could lead to strain or discomfort.
Knee, Hip, and Pelvis Movement – Assessing the alignment and coordination of your lower body to detect any areas that may contribute to inefficiency or injury.
Stride Length and Frequency – Evaluating your cadence and stride length to ensure optimal energy expenditure.
Posture and Core Stability – Assessing your upper body position to ensure you’re maintaining proper posture and balance throughout your run.
After the analysis, we will provide a detailed clinical report outlining your strengths and any areas requiring attention. If any inefficiencies or issues are identified, we will offer a tailored exercise program to address them. This personalised plan may include strength training, flexibility work, and specific running drills designed to enhance your form and prevent injury. We also offer advice on footwear and running surfaces to further optimise your technique.
